This 4-week series begins with the first class in person at the Venue. The following 3 classes will be facilitated virtually with a live instructor from the comfort of your home via Zoom video conferencing. You do not need to download anything and Zoom can be accessed by a link we provide you on any device. This class is to be taken while you are pregnant.
Postpartum depression is a serious condition that affects about 1 in 7 mothers and about 1 in 3 low-income mothers. This is a class taught in a safe setting that provides pregnant women the skills and information that they need to lower their risk of postpartum depression. This class was developed by Dr. Caron Zlotnick at Women and Infants Hospital and Brown University. Five randomized clinical trials have shown that this class reduces the risk of postpartum depression in low-income women by half and is the only postpartum depression prevention intervention that (1) has been found to significantly reduce cases of postpartum depression in multiple randomized trials, and (2) has been tested in community prenatal settings.
Once baby is delivered you are encouraged to attend the Survive 2 Thrive mother/baby support group facilitated every Friday Afternoon.
This class is facilitated by Postpartum Interventionist trained by the University of Michigan.
