Commonsense Childbirth Institute (CCI) is partnered with Childbirth Concierge (CC) to offer the following trainings.
Certification is optional and will be issued by CCI when all requirements are met. There is a $50 life-time certification fee for Certification Designation by Commonsense Childbirth Institute when ready to certify.
A doula is a healthcare professional who provides non-medical support and care through education, guidance and counseling for pregnant and parenting women and families.
Childbirth Educator Program
Becoming a childbirth educator is an extremely rewarding career for those who desire to educate pregnant women about birth processes and their choices.
This course is an excellent starting point for those interested in learning about the process of breastfeeding, and educating new mothers about breastfeeding.

KATHY BRADLEY, IBCLC, CCE, CD
Bringing 30 years of teaching experience into the “classroom”, Kathy engages with students and empowers them to become skilled providers. Kathy is a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Doula who has been serving expectant families for over 30 years, and training health professional for 25 years. She is the owner of Childbirth Concierge, mother of five children and grandmother to 4 busy grandsons.
AKHMIRI SEKHR-RA, CCC
Akhmiri Sekhr-Ra has been a Childbirth Attendant for over thirty years and is the Chief Family Development Officer/Health Systems Navigator with the Cultural Wellness Center in MN where she supports individuals who are interacting with the health care system. Giving back to the community, she is a board member for “Everyday Miracles,” a doula service in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul. She is a board member for the Minnesota Breastfeeding Coalition, and a a co-chair for Integrated Care for High-Risk Pregnancies (ICHRP) “This work is very close to my heart. My work as Perinatal Educator grounds me by putting me so close to creation and the creative forces. I carry myself in a spiritual way, and talk to birthing families from my heart about the birthing experience.” The Mission of the Cultural Wellness Center is to “unleash the power of people to heal themselves and build community.” This is her life’s work, because individualism, loss of community and culture is what makes a person sick.
COURTNEY WEST, LPN, CCE, CD, CPE
As a proud St. Petersburg native and a licensed practical nurse with a background in pediatric home health and mental health nursing, birth has been her passion since a child. After the birth of her second daughter, the necessity of becoming a birth advocate blossomed within. Courtney realized she couldn’t find birth support her south side community and decided to make that change to be that support for women where it was lacking. Her mission is to assist women in having a loving and empowering birth experience during this most transitional time. She id the owner of 3 Gems Birth Services where “everyone deserves care” She certified in evidence-based pain management during childbirth and placenta encapsulation from Uma Midwifery And Holistic Service.
